Message from the Commander

Greetings Team Watervliet,

I am honored to serve as the 63rd Commander of America’s Cannon and Mortar Factory! I want to thank everyone for the warm welcoming my family and I received since taking command.

To everyone who had a hand in putting together a first class change of command ceremony between Col Earl Schonberg and myself.  These events are not easy to accomplish, and I sincerely appreciate your efforts.

My top priority is taking care of our people and ensuring everyone is respected and valued in this organization. You should all be proud of the inclusive culture you are building at Watervliet Arsenal.  This Arsenal’s workplace climate must remain an organization that is built upon the foundation of trust and ensuring the dignity and respect for our teammates.

As you are well aware, WVA is in the process of modernizing our equipment and facilities through 2035. A big part of this modernization effort is ensuring that our processes take full advantage of the latest technology, machinist skills and human capital training available.  Over the next 3-5 years you will witness significant improvements on the Arsenal.

Lastly, I am looking forward to getting to know each of you during my command tenure. Thank you - for everything you do for our Army and the Nation. Lastly, please keep in mind our deployed teammates, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Guardians, and Civilians that are out-front defending freedom.

Army Strong!
Col. Alain G. Fisher
63rd Commander, Watervliet Arsenal
